Lawmaker Nisha Dangi Raises Concerns Over Misuse of Indian-Registered Vehicles in Nepal

Kathmandu. Lawmaker Nisha Dangi has stated that the provision allowing Indian-registered vehicles to enter Nepal is being misused. During Wednesday's House of Representatives meeting, she demanded an end to the abuse of entry passes for Indian vehicles.

'According to the rules, vehicles entering with a one-day pass should return. However, in practice, they are being operated as private and public transport within Nepal. This has a direct impact on vehicles imported after paying high customs duties,' Dangi said, adding, 'This is not just a problem in my constituency, Mechinagar. Transport entrepreneurs and drivers in every border area are affected by Indian-registered vehicles.'

She also demanded that authorities monitor border crossings and prevent the misuse of day passes, noting that it is difficult to obtain compensation when accidents occur involving Indian vehicles.
