RPP Lawmaker Khusbu Oli Demands Government Action on Fertilizer Shortage

Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Khusbu Oli has demanded that the government make necessary arrangements for the supply of agricultural fertilizer. Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, she questioned the government's strategy for managing fertilizer supplies as the planting season approaches.

She stated that the government must pay attention in time, as signs of price hikes and supply crises have already emerged due to the conflict in West Asia. She emphasized that the government should not delay in making necessary decisions, as farmers failing to receive fertilizer on time would directly impact the country's economy.

Speaking at the meeting, MP Oli said, 'The planting season is approaching. It is essential to ensure the availability of fertilizer and agricultural materials beforehand. However, due to the conflict in West Asia, signs of price increases and supply crises have already appeared. I want to ask through the Speaker what the government's preparations are regarding this issue.'

She further added, 'If there is a shortage of fertilizer at the time of planting, farmers will suffer. Our production will decrease, food security will be at risk, and the economy will be seriously affected. Therefore, I want to draw the government's attention to finding alternative supply sources, diversifying supplies, and clarifying the government's strategy for fertilizer supply. The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should work together to solve this problem.'

MP Oli also stated that it is necessary for the government to clearly inform Parliament about the preparations being made for the smooth supply of agricultural fertilizer.
