Former Microfinance Branch Manager Arrested for Embezzlement in Solukhumbu

Solukhumbu. Santosh Magar has been arrested on charges of illegally misappropriating funds while serving as a branch manager at various branches of Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha.

The 27-year-old, a resident of Fikkal Rural Municipality-1, Sindhuli, was apprehended by a special team from the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, in coordination with Sindhuli police. Authorities stated he was arrested from Madhutar, Kamalamai Municipality-5, Sindhuli.

A complaint was filed alleging that Magar abused his position while working at branches including Salleri in Solukhumbu, creating artificial loans to embezzle funds. Wangyel Lama, an authorized representative of the institution, filed the complaint, stating that Magar caused significant financial loss to the organization through illegal transactions.

Based on the complaint, an arrest warrant was issued against him by the High Court, Biratnagar. Police, who were searching for the fugitive, located him in Sindhuli and brought him to Solukhumbu.

Information Officer at the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, Police Inspector Bikas Rai, stated that Magar was presented before the High Court, Biratnagar, on Chait 22, where a seven-day remand was granted under the Banking Offense and Punishment Act, 2064, to proceed with the investigation.
