House of Representatives forms key committees and approves ordinances

Kathmandu. Following the election of Dol Prasad Aryal as Speaker, the House of Representatives meeting held under his chairmanship has formed two essential committees for parliamentary operations. The meeting, held on Monday at the multipurpose hall of the under-construction parliament building in Singha Durbar, established the Business Advisory Committee to determine the House's operational procedures and agenda.

Speaker Aryal announced the formation of the 21-member Business Advisory Committee and read out the names of the nominated members. The committee is chaired by the Speaker.

According to Speaker Aryal, the committee includes Achutam Lamichhane, Apsana Banu, RN Rai, KP Khanal, and Kamini Chaudhary. Other members include Krantishikha Dhital, Khushbu Oli, Ganesh Singh Thagunna, Guru Prasad Baral, Gangalakshmi Awal, Tapeshwor Yadav, Devraj Pathak, Narendra Kumar Kerung, Prakash Chandra Pariyar, Nisha Dangi, Bodh Narayan Shrestha, Mina Kumari Yadav, Yubraj Dulal, Rajan Gautam, Dr. Ram Lama, and Bipin Kumar Acharya.

Furthermore, the House approved the formation of a Drafting Committee for the House Rules of Procedure. A 15-member committee was formed under the chairmanship of Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli. The proposal for the drafting committee was presented by Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Kabindra Burlakoti and was unanimously supported by lawmakers from all political parties represented in the House.

The committee led by Parajuli includes Dr. Ojaswi Sherchan, Ain Mahar, Khushbu Oli, Khagendra Sunar, Gajala Shamim Mishrani, Tapeshwor Yadav, Dhruvaraj Rai, Nisha Dangi, Nishkal Rai, Balawati Sharma, Madhu Chaulagai, Rekha Kumari Yadav, Yagyamani Neupane, and Sulav Kharel.

The committee will draft procedures under the Speaker's direction and may seek expert assistance if necessary. The committee has a tenure of 14 days.

The meeting unanimously approved the 'Voter List (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2082', 'House of Representatives Member Election (First Amendment) 2082', and 'Nepal Special Service (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2082' presented by Home Minister Sudan Gurung. When Speaker Aryal called for a vote on the three proposals, no lawmakers opposed them.

The House also passed a condolence motion on the passing of former lawmaker Ram Chandra Bhattarai. The next meeting of the House of Representatives has been scheduled for Tuesday at 1:00 PM.
