Nepali Congress to Play Role of Constructive Opposition, Says MP Ranjit Karna

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Ranjit Karna has stated that his party will play the role of a constructive opposition and a responsible partner to the government led by Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balendra Shah.

Speaking at Monday's National Assembly meeting, MP Karna described the current government as a reflection of the public's desire for change. He emphasized that in a democracy, the mandate of the people is paramount.

MP Karna noted that the new generation has received opportunities today due to the democratic foundation built by the people's movements from 2007 to 2062/63. Karna acknowledged that along with its glorious past, the Congress must also accept some of its shortcomings. 

‘Although the constitution and rights are ensured, the feeling of good governance, employment, and prosperity has not reached the people as expected. Weaknesses in controlling delays, policy obstacles, and corruption are evident, and the inability to provide opportunities for youth within the country has made foreign employment a necessity,’ Karna said, ‘It is a reality today that we have failed to ensure quality services in basic sectors like education and health as per public expectations, and have not been able to move forward with a clear roadmap for good governance, transparency, employment, and social justice. This must be improved now.’ 

Stating that the Congress possesses experience, energy, and innovative thinking, and that the government also has the willpower for energy and innovation, MP Karna expressed his belief that the combination of these two could steer the country in the right direction. He stated that the Congress is ready to cooperate in controlling corruption, institutional strengthening, and administrative reforms, and will fully support positive proposals.
