CPN-UML Vows to Hold Government Accountable in Parliament

Kathmandu. The CPN-UML has decided to caution the government in Parliament to ensure the rule of law and the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. 

The CPN-UML maintained this stance during an all-party meeting convened by the Federal Parliament Secretariat on Monday. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, CPN-UML leader Guru Baral stated, ‘We want Parliament to function effectively. We will not dispute the compliance of laws within the rule of law,’ he added, ‘The government belongs to the ruling party, while Parliament belongs to the opposition.’

He also informed that the party is preparing to raise issues regarding the challenges seen in the application and implementation of the Constitution in Parliament.  ‘We will raise our voices on the fundamental rights and political rights of citizens guaranteed by the Constitution,’ he said, ‘so that rights related to the right to equality can be exercised correctly.’
