Bagmati Provincial Assembly Winter Session Summoned for Chaitra 24

Hetauda. The winter session of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly has been summoned for Chaitra 24. On the recommendation of the provincial government, Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota summoned the assembly session on Monday.

Accordingly, the provincial assembly meeting will be held on Tuesday at 4 PM. Previously, the provincial cabinet meeting held on Sunday had recommended the summoning of the session.

The government has summoned the winter session five months after the conclusion of the monsoon session. On Mangsir 3, following the provincial government's recommendation, Province Chief Devkota had prorogued the ongoing monsoon session. Due to the Gen-Z movement and natural disasters, the government was unable to call a provincial assembly meeting, resulting in an eight-month hiatus. The last meeting of the provincial assembly was held on Shrawan 27.

Immediately following that, the provincial assembly secretariat and assembly hall were burned during the Gen-Z movement, creating uncertainty regarding the operation of meetings. Amidst the Gen-Z movement, the then-Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, Bhuwan Kumar Pathak, announced his resignation from the post.

He submitted his written resignation to the provincial assembly on Ashoj 1. Following the government's decision to prorogue the house on Mangsir 3 without conducting a meeting, Deputy Speaker Apsara Chapagain issued a public notice informing the members of parliament about the Speaker's resignation.
