Supreme Court Continues Hearing on Habeas Corpus Petitions for Oli and Lekhak

Kathmandu. The habeas corpus petitions filed by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak will continue to be heard today. On Sunday, the hearing took place before the bench of Supreme Court Justices Binod Sharma and Sunil Kumar Pokharel.

Arguments from the legal representatives of Oli and Lekhak concluded on Sunday. Today, government attorneys from the Office of the Attorney General will present their arguments.

Both individuals were arrested by police on Chait 14, following the government's decision to implement the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission, which was formed to investigate the Gen-Z movement incidents. On Chait 15, Yashoda Lekhak filed a petition on behalf of Congress leader and former Home Minister Lekhak, and Radhika Shakya filed one on behalf of Oli, following their arrests for investigation into the Gen-Z movement events of Bhadau 23 and 24.

The investigation commission had recommended prosecuting them after holding them responsible for the suppression that occurred during the Gen-Z movement on Bhadau 23 and 24.
