Nepal Faces Dual Impact of Western Disturbance and Local Winds, Meteorological Department Warns

Kathmandu. Nepal is currently experiencing the dual impact of a western low-pressure system and local winds. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, this influence is expected to cause cloudy weather, rain, and snowfall in various parts of the country.

Currently, the hilly and mountainous regions of the country, including Sudurpashchim Province, are experiencing generally cloudy conditions. The weather remains clear in other parts of the Terai region. 

Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring in many places in the hilly areas of Gandaki Province. Similarly, scattered rain is being reported in some hilly areas of Karnali, Sudurpashchim, Lumbini, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces, while snowfall continues in the high mountainous regions.

Throughout Monday, the hilly and mountainous regions of the country are expected to remain cloudy, with partial cloudiness in the remaining parts. According to the Division, there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places in the hilly and mountainous regions today. 

Meteorologists have urged residents in hilly areas to remain alert due to the possibility of rain and lightning. Specifically, tourists on trekking routes and residents of mountainous areas are advised to plan their travel only after checking the weather conditions.
