Snow Leopard and Other Films Screened at Nepal International Film Festival

Kathmandu. The film 'Snow Leopard', directed by Pema Tseden, was screened at the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF). The film, which premiered at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival, was showcased under the 'Xizang Panorama' section at NIFF.

The film, which tells the story of the lives of Tibetan herders and the coexistence between humans and the environment, also gained significant attention in Venice.

Under the Xizang Panorama, three other films—'Home Away Home Close', 'Learners from the Top of the World', and 'Sunrise Over the Plateau'—were screened on Saturday. These three films were shown at the Tourism Board hall in Bhrikutimandap.

Directed by Guo Yifei, 'Home Away Home Close' presents the story of a young man overcoming geographical challenges to start a public service initiative called 'Mobile Photo Studio' for local herders. The film 'Learners from the Top of the World' is directed by Jacques Malaterre and addresses educational issues.

Directed by Xiao Xiaowei, the film 'Sunrise Over the Plateau' highlights the extraordinary changes in education, economy, and culture of ordinary families. The films 'Warrior King' and 'Discovering Xizang 2026' are also scheduled to be screened under this panorama on Sunday.

The 'Xizang Panorama' at NIFF is a special non-competitive screening program. On Saturday, films competing in the festival were screened at Civil Mall, Chhaya Center, and the Russian House.

The 'NIFF Feature Pitch' program was also held at the Tourism Board, where new and young writers pitched their stories to producers.
