CPN (UML) Defends Parliamentary Party Leader Election Process

Kathmandu. The CPN (UML) has stated that it has taken serious note of the reactions appearing in public media regarding the election of the CPN (UML) parliamentary party leader held on Chaitra 18.

The secretariat meeting held on Friday clarified that the election of the party leader was conducted in a democratic manner in accordance with the party's statute. 

'The election committee, after completing the prescribed procedures, declared party vice-chairman and honorable Ram Bahadur Thapa elected unopposed,' said a statement issued by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel after the meeting. 

The CPN (UML) also stated that the meeting clarified there was no form of direction, control, or interference from the party in the said election. 

'The party wishes to make this clear to everyone. It calls upon the entire party rank and file to respect this decision reached through democratic methods and to refrain from making any contrary comments or activities in public. The party has taken the positive suggestions received regarding this election from the party rank and file, especially the youth, seriously,' the CPN (UML) said.
