Man arrested in Bhaktapur for impersonating intelligence officer and kidnapping

Bhaktapur. Police have arrested an individual on charges of kidnapping and holding a person hostage while posing as an officer from the National Investigation Department. The arrested individual is 53-year-old Deepak Khadka, a resident of Makwanpur Gadhi Rural Municipality-3.

On Magh 28, Khadka visited the home of 47-year-old Purna Bahadur Thapa, a resident of Suryabinayak Municipality-5, Bhaktapur, and introduced himself as an 'investigation department police officer.' Police investigations revealed that he took Thapa to a hotel and held him hostage through intimidation and threats.

Following a search, a team from the District Police Range, Bhaktapur, apprehended the fugitive Khadka from the Gaushala area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8. Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Jabegu stated that a case of 'kidnapping and hostage-taking' has been registered against Khadka. Police confirmed that he is currently under further investigation after obtaining a remand extension from the court.
