Ministry of Health Reports Progress on 100-Point Governance Reform Agenda

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Population has released its latest progress report under the government's 100-point governance reform agenda.

In accordance with the Council of Ministers' decision, the Ministry reported progress on health sector reforms outlined in point number 85. According to the report, free treatment services for the underprivileged have been ensured in 10 percent of beds across 32 hospitals.

This includes 19 private and 13 government hospitals. Details regarding free treatment at these facilities are now being regularly updated on the Ministry's website. Furthermore, major health institutions such as Bir Hospital, Gangalal Heart Center, and Kanti Children's Hospital have undergone regular monitoring to improve service quality, with feedback provided for necessary enhancements.

The Ministry claims that a draft of new guidelines for hospital service improvement has been prepared, and reform initiatives are proceeding in federal and provincial hospitals according to the action plan. Regarding specialized services, the Ministry has prioritized the establishment of burn wards.

Preparations are underway to establish burn wards at Tikapur, Mahakali, and Seti Provincial Hospitals in Sudurpashchim Province, as well as Kalaiya Hospital in Madhesh Province. Additionally, burn treatment services, which were previously halted at the Madhesh Institute of Health Sciences in Janakpur, have been resumed.

Similarly, air ambulance services have been kept on standby to save the lives of citizens in remote and mountainous regions. Specifically, the process of amending the procedure for the air rescue of pregnant and postpartum women at risk has been initiated in coordination with the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens to ensure it remains timely. The Ministry also stated that it has prioritized the use of technology to hear and address service user grievances.
