CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai Expresses Dissatisfaction Over Parliamentary Party Leader Selection

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has expressed dissatisfaction with the process of selecting the parliamentary party leader. The parliamentary party meeting held at the central office in Chyasal on Wednesday had selected Badal as the leader of the parliamentary party unopposed.

Through social media platform Facebook, Bhattarai stated that the process of selecting the party leader at a time when the party has suffered a serious setback in the recently concluded elections has worried the entire party rank and file.

'At a time when our movement is facing multidimensional adversity—with the party suffering a serious setback in the elections, widespread public grievances against the party and its leadership, and the party chairman himself being under arrest—we should have been focusing on rebuilding the CPN-UML to forge strong unity and restore public trust. The method and style adopted today to select the CPN-UML parliamentary party leader have further worried the entire party rank and file,' he wrote.

He further remarked that instead of taking a few days to reach a high-level understanding through discussions between the party leadership and lawmakers, the actions taken by keeping lawmakers under pressure were not appropriate.
