Madhesh Provincial Assembly Debates Draft of Provincial Assembly Rules, 2082

Janakpurdham. A theoretical discussion on the report of the drafting committee for the Provincial Assembly Rules, 2082, is underway in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly meeting.

In the meeting that began shortly ago on Wednesday as part of the sixth session of the Provincial Assembly, lawmakers are participating in the discussion on the drafting committee's report and expressing their views.

A theoretical discussion on the Provincial Assembly Rules, 2082, presented by lawmaker Sharada Thapa, was also held during Tuesday's meeting.

During the discussion, most lawmakers noted that while the rules are generally good, there are some flaws that require necessary amendments. Speaking during the discussion, lawmaker Sanjay Kumar Yadav emphasized the need to update the Provincial Assembly Operation Rules, 2075, to be time-relevant. He claimed that if the provisions mentioned in the proposed rules are followed by everyone from the Speaker to the lawmakers, Madhesh Province will become more disciplined and effective.

Similarly, lawmaker Surita Kumari Sah described the proposed rules as positive and thanked lawmaker Sharada Thapa for presenting them. Lawmaker Rajkumar Lekhi stated that although the rules are better than before, there are flaws in some provisions that require amendment.

Lawmaker Ratneshwar Goit Yadav stated that he viewed the presented rules positively.

Likewise, lawmaker Anjana Pandit suggested that attention should be paid to the qualifications of members in the Special Rights Committee to be formed under the rules, proposing that at least those with a postgraduate degree should be included. Lawmaker Upendra Kumar Mahato also mentioned that there are some flaws in the rules and pointed out the need for amendments.

The agenda for today includes concluding the theoretical discussion on the Provincial Assembly Rules and having lawmaker Sharada Thapa respond to the questions raised during the discussion.
