Pankaj Rai Announces Candidacy for Western Regional Transport Entrepreneurs Committee Presidency

Butwal. Young entrepreneur Pankaj Rai has announced his candidacy for the position of President of the Western Regional Transport Entrepreneurs Committee.

During a press conference held in Butwal on Wednesday, Rai unveiled his candidacy along with a 14-point commitment. He pledged to foster coordination and a sense of unity among entrepreneurs, self-employed individuals, and workers within the committee if elected.

Rai has proposed plans to modernize road accident management by developing a mobile app system, enrolling drivers and co-drivers in the Social Security Fund, and ensuring provisions for insurance, training, and regular health check-ups.

Furthermore, he committed to regularizing health and accident insurance for drivers, developing respectful and collaborative relationships between entrepreneurs and staff, and strengthening effective security systems for parking management and theft control in Kathmandu.

According to him, initiatives will be taken to reduce the current 72-hour limit for Indian-registered vehicles staying in Nepal to 24 hours. He also presented plans to simplify the road permit process, implement a system for annual renewal, provide emergency services through a toll-free helpline, and conduct periodic training for drivers and co-drivers.

Rai stated that he would facilitate the use of PAN and VAT, establish a help desk for the effective implementation of the Social Security Fund, and intensify membership expansion and promotional activities.

It is reported that approximately two thousand trucks and one thousand three hundred entrepreneurs are affiliated with the committee. In the upcoming 25th Annual General Meeting and 14th Convention scheduled for Chaitra 20 and 21, two other groups, along with Rai, are preparing to contest the election with their respective panels.
