Majority of Dental Clinics in Golbazar Operating Illegally, Officials Say

Siraha. It has been found that most dental clinics within the Golbazar Municipality area of Siraha are operating illegally. These clinics are running in violation of state-mandated standards, without proper registration or authorization from official bodies.

The Golbazar Municipal Health Branch stated that half a dozen clinics, including Max Dental Healthcare Center in Ward No. 4, and Naveen Dental Clinic, Uni Global Dental Clinic Pvt. Ltd., and Maa Dhamini Dental Clinic in Ward No. 6, are operating without completing the necessary legal procedures.

Meanwhile, clinic operators claim they have submitted documents for registration to the municipality and the province. Dr. Imam Khan of Max Dental Healthcare Center said, 'I have already submitted the documents to the Provincial Health Directorate, and an inspection was conducted six months ago. However, I have not received permission yet.' This clinic, registered with the Office of the Company Registrar, has been in operation for two years.

Maa Dhamini Dental Clinic has been operating for over four years without any authorization. The operator of this clinic, Anurudra Kumar Singh, is not a doctor. Despite lacking the qualifications to run a clinic, he continues to operate. He claims to have submitted all required documents, including doctor's certificates, to the municipality. He stated, 'I have submitted everything the municipality requested. I even submitted the doctor's certificate, but I still do not understand what the municipality is asking for.'

Although these dental clinics have been operating illegally for a long time, the local government appears oblivious. It is not just dental clinics; many privately run health institutions here are neither registered nor updated, and there is no regulation. Locals have begun questioning the local government's lack of interest in monitoring and regulation.

Local youth Santosh Sah said, 'The Golbazar Municipality is not monitoring or regulating anything. Consumers and the public are being cheated, but the municipality shows no interest. Regardless of other issues, the local government must be serious about sensitive matters like health.'

The Health Branch stated that this is an issue the municipality should prioritize. 'We have paid less attention to this. We will discuss this matter with the elected representatives and the office chief,' said Health Branch Chief Saroj Karna. According to him, the dental clinics have not submitted any documents to the municipality to date.
