Nepali Congress Factions Host Welcome Event for Newly Elected Lawmakers

Kathmandu. The faction led by former acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka and the faction led by Dr. Shekhar Koirala organized a congratulatory and goodwill exchange program on Tuesday for the newly elected members of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.

Out of the 38 lawmakers elected in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21, only 11 participated in the program held at Hotel Smart in Maharajgunj.

The participating House of Representatives members included Sita Thapaliya (Urmila), Rina KC (Upreti), Tek Bahadur Gurung, Ganga Laxmi Awale, Rukmini Koirala, Gita Sengden, Sushila Dhakal Acharya, Harina Devi Kami, Bishnu Bahadur Khadka, Jayapati Rokaya, and Ninu Karna. Leaders stated that some lawmakers could not attend as they were out of the valley for personal work due to the short notice.

Leaders mentioned that members in their group, including Yogesh Sherchan and Sandeep Rana, were out of the valley and could not attend. At the event, Khadka and Dr. Koirala offered their best wishes and urged the attendees to play an effective role despite the small numbers.

Former General Secretary Mahalakshmi Upadhyaya 'Dina', who participated in the program, informed that more than 13 members of the House of Representatives and all newly elected members of the National Assembly were present.

Leaders including Dr. Shashank Koirala, Prakash Man Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi, NP Saud, Dr. Minendra Rijal, Bal Bahadur KC, Jeevan Pariyar, Badri Pandey, and Mahalakshmi Upadhyaya 'Dina' participated in the tea reception program.

All 9 lawmakers elected from the Congress in the National Assembly election held on Magh 11 participated in the program. Those elected from the National Assembly election included Ranjit Karna, Khamba Bahadur Khati, Chandra KC, Jagat Timalsina, Gita Devkota, Sunil Thapa, Basudev Jangali, and Dharmendra Paswan.
