Widening Project Begins on Dang's Ghorahi-Lamahi Road Section

Dang. Work has begun to widen the Ghorahi-Lamahi road section. Although the current work involves clearing bends and narrow spots, the road is being developed as a four-lane highway.

Dipendra Bista, Chief of the Road Division Office, informed that work is underway to complete the road expansion within the current fiscal year. Previously, numerous traffic accidents occurred due to the narrow road. Now, at a time when the risk of accidents is increasing, it is expected that road expansion along with bend improvements will facilitate the operation of transport vehicles.

Chief Bista stated that the expansion work on the Lamahi-Ghorahi road section involves cutting dangerous bends so that both sides of the road are visible when vehicles pass. The work is being carried out by cutting soil and constructing retaining walls in areas where cutting is not feasible, with the objective of widening narrow sections, managing increasing traffic volume, and easing movement. He added, "The road expansion work is being done to open up the Lamahi-Ghorahi road."

The Division Road Office stated that work is underway to widen narrow sections along approximately 17 kilometers of the Ghorahi-Lamahi road section, from Kuirepani in Ghorahi Metropolitan City-3 to Arjun Khola in Lamahi Municipality-6.

Under the Ghorahi-Lamahi Road Improvement Program, work is being carried out to improve various bends and widen narrow spots through cutting and wall construction. Chief Bista informed that three contracts worth approximately NPR 20 crore 13 lakh 59 thousand have been signed for road improvement from Arjun Khola in Lamahi to Chaupata Temple in Ghorahi to open up the narrow road.

According to him, contracts have been signed for the road expansion work on the Kuirepani to Masot Khola section of the Ghorahi-Lamahi road section with Shree Munal-K.V.-Sunil & Vijay JV Dang for NPR 13 crore 46 lakh 61 thousand, and for the Masot Khola to Arjun Khola section for NPR 6 crore 80 lakh 90 thousand with Shree Easy-Alkapuri JV.

He mentioned that work is being carried out on the road from Chaupata to Arjun Khola with the goal of completing the road improvement work within the current fiscal year.
