Lahore Qalandars Penalized for Ball Tampering in Tense PSL Match Against Karachi Kings

Karachi. Lahore Qalandars player Fakhar Zaman has been accused of ball tampering during a match against Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

 The umpires penalized Lahore with a 5-run penalty for Zaman attempting to illegally alter the condition of the ball just before the start of the final over. Under pressure after receiving this penalty, Lahore Qalandars was ultimately defeated in the match.

The equation changed when Karachi needed 14 runs to win in the final over, and the umpires deducted 5 runs due to the ball tampering allegation. Following a request from Karachi Kings, the ball was also changed, and they were given a revised target requiring only 9 runs off 6 balls. 

Karachi achieved this target in just three balls, securing a thrilling victory. According to cricket rule 41.3.2, a player is allowed to shine the ball but is not permitted to alter its condition by any other means.

In the initial hearing immediately after the match, Fakhar Zaman denied the ball tampering allegation against him. The hearing for further investigation has been postponed until Monday. 

Meanwhile, Lahore captain Shaheen Afridi stated that he does not have detailed information about the incident and will release an official statement only after reviewing the camera footage.
