Rabi Lamichhane Secures Court Date in Cooperative Fraud Case

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has secured a court date from the Kathmandu District Court in the cooperative fraud case.

Sources at the Kathmandu District Court confirmed that Lamichhane presented himself at the court on Sunday morning to receive the date. Lamichhane is facing charges in connection with the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud case in Kalimati, Kathmandu.

A case was filed against Lamichhane at the Kathmandu District Court on Poush 21, 2081, alleging organized misappropriation of funds from the Swarnalaxmi Savings and Credit Cooperative. Sixty-nine zero depositors from Swarnalaxmi filed 93 specific complaints. There are 39 defendants in the case.

The police investigation concluded that 5 crore 78 lakh 98 thousand 480 rupees were illegally taken from the Swarnalaxmi Multipurpose Cooperative Institution by the Gorkha Media Network.

The government lawyer demanded a compensation claim of the same 5 crore 78 lakh 98 thousand 480 rupees from Lamichhane.
