Rastriya Swatantra Party's Senior Leader Balen Shah Set to Take Oath as Prime Minister Today

Kathmandu. Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balen Shah, is scheduled to take the oath of office as Prime Minister today at an auspicious time. He is preparing to take the oath at the President's Office, Shital Niwas, at 12:34 PM.

According to General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, the oath-taking ceremony will feature Swasti Shanti recitation by 108 young priests (batuk), Ashtamangala recitation by 16 Buddhist monks, and the blowing of conch shells (shankhanath) by 7 conches.

Prior to this, leader Shah will be informed of his appointment as Prime Minister. The single government is being formed in accordance with Article 76 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal.

Representatives from various political parties, diplomatic missions stationed here, civil society, and high-ranking government officials have been invited to attend the oath-taking ceremony. It is understood that the ministers will also be sworn in immediately following the Prime Minister's oath.

However, President's Office Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel informed that no information regarding the cabinet members had been received by 8:30 AM.

In the House of Representatives elections held on Falgun 21, the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured victory in 182 seats. The party had only selected leader Shah as its parliamentary party leader on Thursday.

In the House of Representatives elections, leader Shah won from Jhapa Constituency No. 5, securing 68,348 votes. On Thursday, the senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC, administered the oath of office and secrecy to the members of parliament.
