Pakistani Officials Claim Iran Received 15-Point US Ceasefire Proposal Amid West Asia Conflict

Kathmandu. Amidst the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Pakistani officials have claimed that Iran has received a 15-point ceasefire proposal from the United States, signaling that diplomatic efforts are gaining momentum. However, Tehran continues to maintain its stance that it is not formally engaged in such negotiations.

On Wednesday, two Pakistani officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the proposal reached Iran. According to them, the proposal encompasses several significant aspects aimed at ending the war, which appear intended to de-escalate regional tensions.

The main points of the proposal reportedly include the gradual lifting of sanctions imposed on Iran, cooperation in the civilian nuclear energy sector, and measures to limit or roll back Iran's controversial nuclear program.

Furthermore, the proposal is said to include provisions for monitoring through the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), setting limits on missile capabilities, and ensuring safe shipping through the sensitive Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.

The officials indicated they were not authorized to disclose detailed specifics but signaled that the overall framework of the proposal constitutes a broad diplomatic package.

Nevertheless, Iran has consistently clarified that it is not directly engaged in talks with the US. On Wednesday, a military spokesperson reacted sarcastically to American diplomatic efforts, indicating Tehran's firm adherence to its position.

While this development signals that peace efforts are moving forward on one hand, it also shows that mistrust between both sides still persists, making the future of the proposal uncertain.
