Mohanlal's 'Drishyam 3' Release Date Postponed to May 2026

Mumbai. The release date of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's highly anticipated film 'Drishyam 3' has been changed. The film, directed by Jeethu Joseph, will now hit theaters on May 21, 2026, instead of the previously scheduled April 2.

Mohanlal himself confirmed this news on social media on Monday evening. The special thing is that May 21 also marks Mohanlal's 66th birthday, which is why the production team chose this date for the film's release.

Mohanlal shared the new poster of the film on X, writing, 'The past is never quiet... it only waits. Georgekutty is coming, on May 21, 2026.' Although filming for the movie concluded last December, the release was delayed to make the superstar's birthday special.

According to media reports, the ongoing tension and war in the Gulf countries might also be a major reason behind the shift in the film's release date. The production team does not want to take any risks regarding the international market release. Furthermore, Yash's recent film 'Toxic' has also been postponed until June.

The Drishyam franchise, which began in 2013, proved to be a milestone for Malayalam cinema. Its second part was released in 2021. This film was remade in Hindi by Ajay Devgn, which was highly appreciated by the audience.

Director Jeethu Joseph has clarified that this time the film will have a direct pan-India release in 5 languages. This means that Drishyam 3 starring Mohanlal will also be released simultaneously in Hindi.
