Local Government Initiates Action Against Contractor for Abandoning 15-Bed Hospital Construction in Bhojpur

Bhojpur. The Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality has initiated action against the contractor who failed to complete construction as per the contract agreement. Action is being taken against the construction company that left the construction of the 15-bed hospital, which began in the fiscal year 2077-78, unfinished.

The Rural Municipality has issued a public notice directing the construction company, Bhumi Himalayan JV Biratnagar, to contact them within seven days with necessary clarification. It has been made clear that if they fail to make contact within the stipulated time, unilateral action will be initiated according to prevailing laws, regulations, and the agreement.

The notice mentions that action is being initiated against the concerned construction company for failing to complete the work on time, abandoning the construction site, and not responding despite repeated reminders. The Rural Municipality has stated that action can be taken in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, 2063, the Public Procurement Regulations, 2064, and the conditions stipulated in the agreement. It has been indicated that legal provisions allow for contract cancellation, forfeiture of the deposit, or other administrative actions.

Local residents have been complaining about delays in expanding health services due to the failure to complete the hospital construction on schedule. The delay in the hospital building construction has created a situation where service recipients are not receiving necessary health facilities on time. Rural Municipality Chairman Saroj Basnet stated that the local level is committed to strictly addressing such irresponsible behavior and ensuring that public development construction is effective and completed on time.
