Separate Desk to be Established at Tribhuvan Airport for Nepali Diaspora

A separate desk is now set to be established at the arrival and departure lounges of Tribhuvan International Airport for Nepali citizens of Nepali origin living abroad and Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs).

The Department of Immigration stated that the decision was made to deepen the affinity of NRNs and foreign citizens of Nepali origin scattered across various countries towards Nepali language, culture, and the Nepali soil, and to promote tourism and investment in Nepal.

The department corresponded with the Tribhuvan International Airport office on Sunday to arrange for a separate desk in the arrival and departure sections of the airport.

The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO), an organization representing Nepalis of Nepali origin worldwide, had been drawing the attention of the Nepal government and demanding this for a long time. The organization welcomed the decision made by the Home Ministry on Sunday.

Following the Department of Immigration's decision and correspondence with the Tribhuvan International Airport office on Sunday, the organization issued a statement thanking Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and the Home Administration.

The statement issued by ANO Chairman Dilli Adhikari read, "This decision by the Home Ministry has made Nepali citizens residing worldwide feel respected. We believe the implementation of this decision will greatly contribute to connecting the Nepali heart and Nepali identity with Nepal."
