Fugitive Convicted of Rape Industry Case Arrested in Kathmandu After Seven Years on the Run

Kathmandu. Police have arrested a defendant who had been absconding for seven years after being convicted in a rape industry case from Kathmandu. A special team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, apprehended 25-year-old Subash Sunar from Akashhe Tole, Chandragiri Municipality-5, on Sunday.

Sunar, originally from Sanutar, Bhimfedi Rural Municipality-1, Makwanpur, and currently residing in Chandragiri, was convicted by the Kathmandu District Court on Jestha 24, 2075 BS. According to the court's verdict, he has 5 years, 11 months, and 10 days of imprisonment remaining to serve. After being sentenced, he fled and was living secretly in Kathmandu, based on which the police intensified their search operation.

According to Police Superintendent Manohar Prasad Bhatta, Sunar was arrested on Sunday afternoon. The arrested defendant was presented before the Kathmandu District Court, Babar Mahal, on the same Sunday for the execution of the verdict. The court has initiated the process to send him to prison to serve his sentence.
