Eleven Killed in Security Operation in Culiacan, Mexico; Cartel Leader Arrested

Mexico City. Mexican security forces have confirmed that 11 people were killed during an operation in Culiacan, in the northern region. It was reported that Omar Oswaldo Torres, a leader of a faction under the notorious Sinaloa Cartel, was arrested during the operation.

According to information provided by the Mexican Navy via social media, a retaliatory action was taken after their security personnel were attacked during a raid. Eleven attackers were killed in the process. The identities of the deceased have not yet been made public. High-powered weapons and tactical equipment were also recovered from the scene.

Torres is also known by the nickname 'El Patas'. He is considered the head of the 'Los Mayos' faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. His daughter was with him during the operation. However, officials stated that she was handed over to her family as she was not found to be involved in criminal activities.

In recent years, conflict has been escalating between the 'Los Mayos' faction and another group, 'Los Chapitos'. Both groups are believed to be associated with Ismael Zambada and Joaquin Guzman, respectively, who are currently held in US prisons.
