Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian Couple and Two Children in West Bank Shooting

A Palestinian couple and their two children were brutally killed by Israeli army gunfire in the occupied West Bank. The tragic incident occurred when Israeli security forces suddenly opened fire on the Bani Odeh family while they were traveling in their car in the city of Tulkarm in the northern West Bank.  

Two other children traveling in the car were injured in the attack but managed to survive.  According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, those killed were Ali, 30, his wife Wad, and their two sons – Mohammed, five, and Othman, seven.  

The ministry confirmed that all those brought to the hospital had sustained gunshot wounds to the face and head. The other two sons, aged eight and eleven, who were in the same car, witnessed the death of their parents and brothers before their eyes. They sustained minor injuries from shrapnel.

In response to this incident, Israeli officials claimed that the army and paramilitary border police were conducting a joint operation in the city at the time. A joint statement issued by the Israeli army and police mentioned that the car was speeding towards Israeli security personnel, and they opened fire in retaliation after feeling unsafe. They also stated that a further investigation into the incident is underway.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent has made a serious allegation that Israeli forces initially obstructed the rescue of the injured. The statement mentioned that Israeli security forces ordered the Red Crescent rescuers to leave the area without allowing them access to the injured inside the car.
