Rain Spreads Eastward Across Nepal as Western Low-Pressure System Dominates Weather

Rainfall began in the western region of Nepal early this morning. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the rain, which started in the west, is gradually moving eastward due to the influence of the Western low-pressure system.

Dinkar Kayastha, the information officer for the department, stated that rainfall has been occurring since early this morning in areas of western Nepal including Dadeldhura, Doti, Achham, Bajura, Bajhang, Gulmi, Kaski, Tanahun, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, and Manang, adding that the system causing the rain has now reached Chitwan.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division of the department reported that the rain that started in the west is moving eastward. Kayastha mentioned that Gulmi received 17 millimeters and Tanahun received 11 millimeters of rain in the last hour, noting that it is still raining.

Information Officer Kayastha of the department informed that Nepal is currently under the influence of a Western low-pressure system. According to him, Madhes, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are generally cloudy, while Koshi and Gandaki provinces have partial cloud cover.

The department stated that fog has occurred in some places in the Terai region and the Kathmandu Valley. The weather bulletin issued by the department today indicated that there will be general cloud cover in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim provinces, and Koshi and Bagmati provinces, with partial cloud cover in the remaining areas.

Information Officer Kayastha of the department provided information that there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms in some places in the Himalayan regions of the country, along with snowfall in a few areas.

He stated that there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms in some places in the hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, a few places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and one or two places in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. According to him, the cloudy weather will persist for a few more days.
