Kolkata Knight Riders Sign Zimbabwe Pacer Blessing Muzarabani Ahead of IPL 2026 Season

Kolkata.  The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have strengthened their squad ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season by signing Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani. The franchise officially announced on Friday that the 29-year-old bowler has been brought into the team.  

Muzarabani delivered an outstanding performance for Zimbabwe in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, taking 13 wickets, which played a significant role in taking his team to the Super 8 stage. After becoming the highest wicket-taker for his team in the World Cup, he succeeded in attracting the attention of franchises worldwide.  
The arrival of this right-arm bowler, who stands at 6 feet 8 inches tall, is expected to take KKR's pace bowling attack to new heights. Especially due to the extra bounce obtained from the combination of his height and speed, Muzarabani has always proven challenging for opposing batters.  

Known for his knack for taking wickets in the T20 format, he possesses extensive international cricket experience. He has so far taken 106 wickets in 89 T20 Internationals at an average of 21, with his best performance being 4 wickets for 17 runs.  

Muzarabani will get the opportunity to step onto the IPL field for the first time. Although he has been part of the IPL before, he never got a chance to play any match.  

Last year, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) included him in their squad towards the end of the season as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi. However, even though Ngidi left due to the World Test Championship final, Muzarabani could not secure a spot in Bangalore's playing XI.
