One Hundred Inmates Still Missing After Chitwan Jailbreak; 11 Are Indian Nationals

Chitwan. One hundred inmates who escaped from the District Prison Office, Chitwan, have still not returned. Among them, 11 are Indian citizens.

On Bhadra 24, 743 inmates, including four minors, escaped from this prison. Of those, 643 have returned. Some returned on their own, while others were arrested and brought back by the police.

According to Office Chief Rabindra Prasad Dhungana, there is concern that criminal incidents may occur in the community as inmates involved in serious offenses are also among those absconding.

The Prison Office had requested them to contact the office by last Ashoj 20. The prison had stated that action would be taken according to the Prison Act 2079 and prevailing laws if they did not make contact by the specified time. If anyone is found hiding or sheltering the absconding inmates, the sheltering person will also be considered an offender and action will be taken.

Currently, there are 685 inmates in the prison, including 38 women.
