Weather Activity Expected to Increase Starting Thursday, Improving Air Quality

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that weather activity will increase starting Thursday.

The department's Meteorological Forecasting Division issued a special weather bulletin at 4 PM today, indicating that weather activity is expected to increase from Thursday, and there is a possibility of brief rainfall in some parts of the country. This suggests a gradual improvement in the current air pollution situation.

The division noted that due to a stable high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere of Nepal, the western low-pressure system has not been able to become active, and low-pressure activity in the lower atmosphere has not increased. This lack of sufficient rainfall has caused pollution to accumulate in the lower atmosphere, resulting in haze being observed in many parts of the country for the past few days.

Department spokesperson Dinkar Kayastha requested that necessary precautions be taken to avoid health effects that may arise from the haze. Furthermore, the Meteorological Forecasting Division announced that it is continuously monitoring the weather system across the country and will regularly update the three-day weather forecast bulletin issued daily by the division accordingly.
