Eight Injured as Five Vehicles Collide on East-West Highway in Nawalparasi

Nawalparasi. Eight people were injured when five vehicles collided with each other on the East-West Highway in Daunne, Nawalparasi (East Bardaghat Susta).

District Police Superintendent Yuvraj Khadka stated that the accident occurred last night near Ghiukhola in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2 when a 'container' registered in India, traveling eastward from Sunauli, attempted to 'overtake' on a one-way section of the road, causing the vehicles to collide.

Among those injured in the accident are motorcycle rider Amar Karki, about 30 years old, from Raskuwa-6, Kalikot, and Mahendra Mahatara, about 25 years old, riding pillion on the same motorcycle from Raskuwa-7.

Similarly, six passengers on a passenger bus were injured. According to the police, the injured include Shankar Bista, the bus driver from Rolpa Smriti Rural Municipality-4; Binod Kumar Achhami from Manthali Municipality-12, Ramechhap; Udiram Bista from Liwang, Rolpa Municipality-4; Namnuhang Rai from Dharan-15; Darshan Pokhrel from Rolpa Municipality-2; Chandra Singh Thapa from Sunsari Municipality-5; and Yagyaprasad Bhusal, 60, from Swargadwari Municipality-7, Pyuthan.

All the injured have been taken to Mid-Point Provincial Hospital, Danda, for treatment. Police reported that the driver of the container involved in the accident fled the scene and is currently being sought. Police also stated that efforts are underway to clear the highway, which was obstructed following the accident.
