Rastriya Swatantra Party Dominates Vote Count in Madhesh Province as Regional Parties Lag in Proportional Representation

Kathmandu. The vote counting for the proportional representation (PR) category of the House of Representatives election is nearing its final stage. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has shown dominance in both the first-past-the-post and PR categories across the country in this election.

Specifically in Madhesh Province, the parties considered Madhesi-centric, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal and Janamat Party, have been overshadowed. It appears the Madhesh residents have not trusted these two parties, which have historically championed Madhesh issues, in this election.

According to the PR vote results in Madhesh, JSP Nepal is in fourth place with 129,648 votes. Similarly, Janamat Party is in sixth place with 50,042 votes.

Based on the latest vote count in Madhesh Province, the Rastriya Swatantra Party is the leading party in PR with 1,241,248 votes, while the Nepali Congress is in second place with 276,753 votes. The vote difference between the first and second parties is over 900,000 votes.

CPN-UML is in third place with 181,739 votes. The CPN (Communist Party of Nepal) in fifth place received a total of 100,784 votes.

In Saptari district, JSP Nepal is in second place in the PR count with 36,068 votes. Meanwhile, the other Madhesi party, Janamat Party, is in fourth place with 18,901 votes. In Saptari, RSP is first and Nepali Congress is the third party based on PR votes.

In Siraha, JSP Nepal has shrunk to fifth place with 15,491 votes, while Janamat Party is in sixth place with 10,073 votes. Here, RSP is first, Nepali Congress is second, CPN-UML is third, and CPN (Communist Party of Nepal) is fourth.

Similarly, in Dhanusha, JSP Nepal is in fifth place, receiving 8,455 votes. Janamat Party is limited to seventh place with 4,074 votes. Here too, RSP is first, Nepali Congress is second, CPN-UML is third, and CPN (Communist Party of Nepal) is fourth. RPP is ahead of Janamat Party, which is in seventh place. RPP, in sixth place, received 5,076 votes in Dhanusha under PR.

In Mahottari district, JSP Nepal is in third place with 21,192 votes. Janamat Party is in seventh place with 3,113 votes. In Dhanusha, RSP is first and Nepali Congress is second. CPN-UML is in fourth place here, and CPN (Communist Party of Nepal) is in fifth place. The unified symbol 'Bus' of Nepal Federal Socialist Party, Bahujan Ekta Party Nepal, and Nepal Janajagruti Party has 8,208 votes, which is ahead of Janamat Party.

In Sarlahi district, JSP Nepal is in seventh place in PR with 6,182 votes, while Janamat Party has fallen to ninth place with 3,823 votes. Here, RSP Nepal is first, Nepali Congress is second, CPN (Communist Party of Nepal) is third, CPN-UML is fourth, Rastriya Parivartan Party is fifth, and the unified symbol 'Bus' of Nepal Federal Socialist Party, Bahujan Ekta Party Nepal, and Nepal Janajagruti Party is in sixth place.

In Rautahat, JSP Nepal is in fourth place with 10,147 votes, while Janamat Party is in seventh place with 3,012 votes. Here, RSP is first, Nepali Congress is second, and CPN (Communist Party of Nepal) is third. CPN-UML is in fifth place. Furthermore, Aam Janata Party is in sixth place.

In Bara, JSP Nepal has reached fourth place with 24,324 votes, while Janamat Party has shrunk to eighth place with 5,246 votes. Here, RSP is first, Nepali Congress is second, and CPN-UML is in third place. CPN (Communist Party of Nepal), Rastriya Parivartan Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party are in fifth, sixth, and seventh places respectively.

In Parsa, JSP Nepal is in fifth place, while the other Madhesi party, Janamat Party, is in eighth place. JSP Nepal received 7,789 votes in PR in Parsa, while Janamat Party received 1,800 votes. Here, RSP is in first place, Nepali Congress is second, CPN-UML is third, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party is in fourth place. CPN (Communist Party of Nepal) is in sixth place, and Rashtra Nirman Dal Nepal is in seventh place.
