CPN-UML's Yogesh Bhattarai Says Party Has 'Fallen, Not Died' After Electoral Setback

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has stated that the party has only 'fallen, not died' following its embarrassing electoral results.

In a lengthy status update on social media on Monday, Deputy General Secretary Bhattarai asserted that not only the policies adopted by the CPN-UML but also the committees and leaders at various levels in positions of responsibility must bear the burden for the party reaching this state.

‘Furthermore, the Central Committee and the Central Secretariat, which hold policy and executive roles, must carry the weight of both success and failure,’ Bhattarai questioned the leadership, adding, ‘How will the accountability after success or failure be implemented?’ He also emphasized the need for a serious discussion within the party, rising above prejudice, emotion, and conspiracy theories.

Bhattarai wrote in seven points, ‘Comrades, we have only fallen, we have not died. Through correct policy, correct organization, correct leadership, correct behavior, and correct working style, we will rise again and restore the self-respect of the party, the people, and the nation.’

Bhattarai appealed to UML cadres to maintain restraint and patience to preserve party unity, move forward on the right path, and walk the path of self-reflection rather than self-condemnation.
