CPN-UML Advisor in Kaski Resigns Over Party Chairman Oli's Refusal to Step Down After Electoral Defeat

Pokhara. Khagaraj Acharya, an advisor member of the CPN-UML Kaski district committee, has resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation citing the failure of Chairman KP Sharma Oli to resign even after the party's embarrassing defeat.

'In this hour where CPN-UML Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli has not immediately resigned from the chairmanship following his embarrassing defeat, I, Khagaraj Acharya, resident of Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 21, Kaski district, hereby resign from the post of advisor to the CPN-UML Kaski District Committee, effective from today,' he stated.

Acharya was elected as the chairman of Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 21 in the 2074 election. CPN-UML had always considered this ward its stronghold. In this ward, where CPN-UML used to secure over 70 percent of the votes in past elections, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has now secured more than 60 percent of the votes. Acharya is dissatisfied with the party's recent activities.

He has been consistently raising the voice that Chairman Oli should pave the way and allow new leadership to steer the party. He also used to complain that he received little support from the CPN-UML party during his tenure as ward chairman.
