China's Domestic Tourism Hits Record Highs in 2025, Says Culture Minister

Kathmandu. China's domestic tourism set a new record in 2025. China's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Sun Ye Li, provided this information at a press conference held on Saturday. According to him, both the number of domestic trips made by Chinese citizens and tourism expenditure reached historic highs.

During the nine-day Spring Festival holiday, celebrated from February 15 to 23, 596 million domestic trips were made across China. The tourism expenditure during that period exceeded 800 billion yuan, setting a new record in the tourism sector, Minister Sun stated.

Furthermore, throughout the entire year of 2025, Chinese citizens made over 6.50 billion domestic trips. This number is 16 percent higher than the previous year. Correspondingly, China's domestic tourism expenditure reached 6.3 lakh crore yuan in that year, marking a 9.5 percent increase compared to the previous year.

According to Minister Sun, China's tourism sector is expanding rapidly, and the surge in domestic travel is viewed as a positive indicator for the country's economic activity and service sector. He also mentioned that the government is promoting the tourism sector through various policies and programs for further development.
