Actor Deepak Raj Giri States Artists Should Always Be in Opposition to Power

Kathmandu. Actor and producer Deepak Raj Giri has stated that the role of artists should always be in opposition to the ruling power. Hinting at the fervor and results of the election, Giri expressed his view on social media that artists must raise the voice of the people selflessly. 

He wrote on social media: 'Artists should speak for the people, preferably while remaining in opposition to the ruling power. That is what was done until yesterday, and that is what will be done selflessly from tomorrow!'

Amidst the rise of new forces and the exit of old ones in the election, Giri made a balanced and neutral comment, stating that the election results should be accepted easily. 

He further writes: 'The election is over, best wishes to those coming in! Thanks to those leaving.' Giri, who has always spoken out against social and political anomalies, has sent a message that artists should belong to society and the common citizen, not any specific political party.
