Voter Turnout Reaches Over 65% in Jhapa-5, Where KP Sharma Oli and Balen Shah's Candidate Contested

Biratnagar. A total of 106,000 votes were cast in Jhapa Constituency No. 5, where former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balendra Shah's candidate were contesting.

There were 163,379 registered voters in Jhapa-5. According to the Jhapa Election Office, out of the votes cast, 56,972 were female and 49,400 were male. This turnout represents approximately 65.11 percent.

According to the District Election Office Jhapa, the preliminary estimate suggests that the voting turnout across the district exceeded 65 percent. Tulsikumar Nepal, the District Election Officer, stated that based on the preliminary reports received from various polling centers in the district, more than 65 percent of votes were cast.

He mentioned that the process of collecting ballot boxes from all polling centers in the district is currently underway. He added that all ballot boxes are expected to be collected by 9 PM, after which the process of tallying the records and verifying the seal numbers will commence.
