Rautahat District Sees Peaceful Voting with Around 60% Turnout Amidst Minor Disputes

Rautahat. Voting in all four House of Representatives constituencies in Rautahat district was completed in a peaceful and fear-free environment, apart from minor disputes. It was informed that around 60 percent voting took place across the district in the elections held on Thursday.

A total of 436,611 voters are registered across the four constituencies of Rautahat. As many as 152 polling stations across the district were placed on the high-risk list. Rautahat CDO Dinesh Sagar Bhusal stated that arrangements were made for a joint security team to reach the incident site within 10 minutes if any dispute arose during the election.

According to District Election Officer Chhotelal Das, the House of Representatives election 2082 was conducted in a peaceful, impartial, and fear-free environment compared to past elections.

Meanwhile, Kiran Sah, the House of Representatives candidate for Rautahat Constituency No. 2 from the Communist Party of Nepal, has announced his resignation from the party. He shared the information about leaving the party through his official Facebook page.

Sah alleged that the government failed to provide reliable security arrangements during the election held on Thursday and claimed that Nepali Congress cadres engaged in rigging at 8 polling stations in Constituency No. 2.

'Voting was cast in the names of others, and the police administration stood by as a silent spectator,' he alleged.

However, CDO Dinesh Sagar Bhusal has denied the allegations of rigging. According to him, while there were minor disputes in some places, no serious irregularities were observed anywhere.

According to CDO Bhusal, approximately 60 percent of the votes were cast from 7 a.m. when voting began until 4:50 p.m.

Speaking with Ratopati, he said that the voting was completed peacefully, and now our focus is on the transportation of ballot boxes. More than 10,000 security personnel, including the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force, were deployed to ensure peaceful elections in the district.
