Election Commission Pledges Quick Release of First-Past-the-Post Results Within 24 Hours of Voting Conclusion

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has claimed that it will announce the results of the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) electoral system within 24 hours of the completion of voting and the start of vote counting.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ramprasad Bhandari informed that preparations are underway to collect ballot boxes and provide results as quickly as possible, despite geographical remoteness. He stated that the counting for the proportional representation (PR) system will proceed concurrently with the FPTP counting, and its results will also be announced soon.

He also urged journalists to monitor how much of the commission's commitment is fulfilled. He said, 'It takes time to collect ballot boxes from our hilly and mountainous regions, but we are trying to collect them as quickly as possible. We will collect ballot boxes from most remote areas using the Nepali Army's helicopters.'

He mentioned that it is a common procedure in any democratic country in the world to invite international observers before the election to provide information about the situation and offer hospitality.
