Khas Arya Community Dominates Candidate Representation in Upcoming House of Representatives Election

Kathmandu. The Khas Arya community has the highest number of candidates in the House of Representatives election scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday). According to the detailed election information published by the Election Commission on Wednesday, the Khas Arya community accounts for 34.50 percent of the inclusive candidates.

The second largest group is Indigenous Nationalities with 27.30 percent participation, followed by Madhesi at 24.87 percent in third place, Dalit at 6.75 percent in fourth, Muslim at 3.99 percent in fifth, and Tharu at 2.58 percent in sixth place.

According to the Commission, 3,406 candidates are participating under the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system, and 3,135 under the Proportional Representation (PR) system. In the FPTP category, there are 3,017 male candidates, 388 female candidates, and one other candidate.

Similarly, in the PR category, there are 1,363 male candidates and 1,772 female candidates. Furthermore, 65 political parties are participating under FPTP and 63 under PR. A total of 136 parties were registered with the Election Commission.
