Israeli Defense Minister Vows to Eliminate Leaders Appointed by Iran's Regime

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the goal is the complete destruction of any leader appointed by the religious regime in Iran. To this end, he has instructed the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to take all necessary measures.

He stated that this action would be part of a joint Israeli-American objective and that name or location would hold no significance. "It doesn't matter what his name is or where he is hiding," Gallant said, "We will continue to work with our American partners with full force to create a situation where the regime's capacity there is terminated, the Iranian people uproot it, and a new order is established."

Following the death of Khamenei in Iran, an elected group of senior religious scholars has been meeting virtually to select a new Supreme Leader. Khamenei had not officially announced his successor.

Israel and the United States now claim to be creating a situation where the Iranian people can establish a democratic government and restore regional peace. Furthermore, US President Donald Trump has indicated that Iran could face a similar outcome to Maduro in Venezuela.
