Police Investigate Attack on Officers During Holi Clash in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi. The Kailali District Police Office has initiated a detailed investigation into 12 individuals from a group that attacked police personnel under the guise of celebrating Holi on Tuesday evening in Dhangadhi-13, Kailali village. Police stated that Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dabbal Saud, who sustained a deep head injury during the clash, remains in critical condition.

Violent clashes erupted on Tuesday after a dispute between two parties during Holi celebrations escalated. Police are investigating the cause of the fight.

According to SP Narendra Chand of the Kailali District Police Office, questioning and investigation of the 12 individuals taken into custody from the scene yesterday began this morning. Police are focusing their investigation on whether the incident, which started with a children's quarrel but escalated to adults attacking the police, was a planned assault or merely an act of provocation.

Police informed that among the injured, ASI Dabbal Saud's condition is critical due to a severe head injury. He is currently receiving treatment at Maya Metro Hospital. Inspector Balram Pandey and two others injured in the incident are also being treated at the same hospital.

On Tuesday evening, during Holi celebrations, locals attacked the police team that arrived to control a clash between two groups. After the crowd became uncontrollable, police had to fire 6 rounds in the air to bring the situation under control. Police vehicles were also damaged during the incident.

Following the incident, joint teams of the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police were deployed to prevent further violence.
