Election Official Dies While on Duty at Polling Station in Sarlahi, Nepal

Malangwa. An election officer deployed for election duty at the Basic School Polling Center in Jigdawa, Parsa Rural Municipality-4, Sarlahi, has passed away.

According to the District Police Office Sarlahi, the deceased is 42-year-old Senior Health Assistant Raghunath Mahato, who was a resident of Rautahat district.

Information received from the District Administration Office Sarlahi indicates that Mahato suddenly fell unconscious at the polling center around 2 PM on Tuesday and was immediately rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Malangwa. Doctors declared him dead about half an hour after he reached the hospital.

Mahato was a permanent resident of Madhav Narayan Municipality-6, Rautahat district. He was working as a Senior Health Assistant at the Basic Health Center Barahathwa in Sarlahi district's Barahathwa Municipality-5.

The District Administration Office stated that they received information about his death through a police employee at the Provincial Hospital Malangwa.

The Jigdawa Basic School Polling Center, where the incident occurred, is located about 10 kilometers east of the District Administration Office Sarlahi. Detailed information regarding the cause of death has not yet been released, and doctors have stated that the exact cause will be determined only after the post-mortem examination. Police reported that the body is currently kept at the Provincial Hospital Malangwa and the family has been notified.
