Thrill-Seekers Flock to China's 'Most Extreme' Cliffside Coffee Shop

Fujian. While drinking coffee is usually a relaxing experience, anyone visiting a unique cafe in China's Fujian province might find their heart rate accelerating. Located on a sheer cliff face approximately 60 meters above sea level, the Guxi Cliff Coffee has branded itself as the world's most extreme and dangerous cafe.

This cafe is not a building, but rather rectangular wooden platforms bolted onto the mountain rock, where tourists sit to enjoy their coffee. Getting there is not easy; coffee lovers must first traverse a difficult mountain path for about 30 minutes. Afterward, they can only reach these platforms by rappelling down with the assistance of ropes under the supervision of an instructor.

Videos of this cafe, which has been operating since 2004, recently went viral on social media, leading to a rush of tourists. Considering the growing interest, the cafe's founder clarified that advance booking is mandatory before visiting, and descending the cliff without staff supervision is prohibited.

The price for one cup of coffee here is set at 398 Yuan, which might sound expensive. However, according to the operator, this fee includes the coffee along with mandatory insurance, rental of professional equipment, and the cost of the rappelling instructor. Another interesting point is that once tourists reach the platforms, they can spend as much time as they wish; there is no time limit for staying there.

While this location might seem like a terrifying dream for those afraid of heights, for adventure sports enthusiasts, 'Guxi Cliff Coffee' has become the best destination in China.
