Two Confirmed Dead in Vehicle Accident Involving Election Officials and Security Personnel in Ramechhap

The death toll in the vehicle accident involving a voting officer and security personnel in Ramechhap has reached two. The deceased have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector of Nepal Police Parshuram Yadav and 57-year-old Dor Prasad Ghimire.

On Monday, nine people were injured when a Nissan vehicle with registration number Na. 7 Kha 6768 fell about 100 meters down the road in Siruwari, Ramechhap Municipality-2. Seven of the injured were brought to Kathmandu by an army helicopter.

The vehicle was carrying ballot papers from the Office of the Chief Election Officer to the polling station at Shitaldevi Secondary School in Siruwari and the Ward Office building in Ramechhap Municipality-3.

Preliminary police investigation concludes that the accident occurred because the vehicle failed to navigate a turn on the road. A team led by Inspector Kamal Raut from the District Police Office Ramechhap and a team from the Armed Police Force's Disaster Rescue Base Khurkot rescued the injured and sent them to the district headquarters, Manthali. The army helicopter then transported the injured from Manthali to Kathmandu.
