All Border Crossings in Rautahat District to Close for 72 Hours Ahead of Parliamentary Elections

Rautahat. In view of the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for February 21, all border crossings in Rautahat district, which borders India, will be closed for 72 hours starting from 10 PM tonight.

According to a notice from the District Administration Office, Rautahat, all border crossings in the district will remain closed from 10 PM on Monday, February 18 (corresponding to March 2, 2026) until 10 PM on Thursday, February 21 (corresponding to March 5, 2026), to ensure the election is conducted in a free, fair, and fearless environment.

The administration stated that the decision to close the border crossings was made with the objective of controlling movement in the border areas and further strengthening security arrangements. It has been reported that movement and activities through the border areas will be strictly controlled during this period.

Rautahat's Chief District Officer (CDO) Dinesh Sagar Bhusal informed that the border crossings were closed in consideration of security challenges and stated that the cooperation of all parties is necessary for the implementation of this decision. He urged the general public to comply with the notice and refrain from unnecessary movement.
