India Secures T20 World Cup Semifinal Spot, Sets Up England Rematch

Kathmandu. Defending champions India defeated West Indies in the final Super 8 match to secure their place in the semifinals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Knocking out the two-time champions West Indies, India has now confirmed a semifinal clash against England.

This encounter will be a repeat of the 2024 semifinals. The second semifinal match between these two teams is scheduled for March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

On the other hand, South Africa will face New Zealand in the first semifinal. This match will be held on March 4 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The winners of both these semifinals will compete for the title in the final clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.

In the decisive match held on Sunday, a win was mandatory for both India and West Indies. Batting first, West Indies put up an impressive performance, setting a massive total of 195 runs. In reply, India successfully chased down the target with four balls remaining, losing 5 wickets.

Looking at the tournament equation, South Africa reached the semifinals by remaining at the top of Group 1, maintaining an undefeated run. Similarly, England topped Group 2 by winning all three of their matches. New Zealand qualified as the third semifinalist following the result of the match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Kandy.

According to the schedule, the first semifinal between South Africa and New Zealand will take place on March 4, and the second semifinal between India and England will start at 7 PM local time on March 5.
